Renovation works in Benediktus
17. february - 19. february, 2012, Modletín
An old farmstead in Modletín has been transformed into a house where people with and without handicap live, sing and work together. The community has grown out of a belief that every person has the potential to grow and mature throughout life. The community house was inspired by an international network of communities called L´Arche. The employees and volunteers of Benediktus, our hosting organization, have spent the last couple of years reconstructing three old buildings and transforming them into a local community centre. Apart from hosting handicapped clients, its aim is to renew cultural traditions of the region.
At this stage, the refurbished parish house can host clients only on a temporary basis, offering them handicraft workshops. In order to make a long-term residence possible, a second house needs to be reconstructed – the old public baths house next doors. We will be scaling away old plaster in this building, demolishing a small barn and moving around firewood.
It will be the third time that we are helping Benediktus through Tamjdem. There are indeed things worth coming back for: friendly atmosphere, amazing landscape and work that visibly helps. Do you want to know how it was in our last project? Read an article here. Or you can check out the photos here and here.
