Aims and objectives

Why we started with running TAMJDEM?Do you think that the reason is to help some NGO once or twice per month? You are completely right, but this is not the only aim of our project! First of all, we would like to perform volunteering as an interesting, alternative way of spending free time by developing your interest, getting to know new people and czech NGOs. Beside this, there are much more goals hiding behind a bit different weekend with TAMJDEM!

Why do we GO THERE?

1) To assist NGO and it’s clients with needed work in their organisation, for example to help them with implementation of festivals, game day for children or with some other partial tasks.

2) To prove that the work for the others can be not only fulfilling activity but also a good fun.

3) To provide for young people a direct experience with non-profit sector. Thanks to Tamjdem they have an opportunity to discover various fields of NGO’s activities and make their own opinion about how they work. Moreover after few weekends with Tamjdem they can find some issue so catchy, that they decide to take further steps by their own.

4) To create an informal space, in addition to actual work, where participants can learn about each other, share their volunteer experience and enjoy the voluntary work on a common project.

5) To give space for an intercultural interaction thanks to participation of foreigners (mostly the volunteers who are doing European Voluntar Service in Czech). So there is a possibility to meet foreign people with their culture, attitude and of course with different point of view to the volunteering. You have an unique chance to share all the life experience, in addition to train your language skills. Although there are no outgoing trips, our project still have an international frame :)

6) To open the space for informal educational system. You have a chance to develop your knowledge through workshops and lectures which are related to the field of activity of the partner organization. Preparation of educational activities and games are often in charge of volunteers.

7) The Tamjdem projects are very open for any kind of ideas or any creative activities. So you have an amazing chance to make your own project. In case you don’t have enough experience or creativeness, don’t be discouraged – you can organize just part of it. You can become a chief cook, gaming provider or attaché for education. In each activity you have a full support of the coordinator!

Collateral effects

The main side effect is an increase of the number of volunteers in the partner organizations, where volunteers choose to continue to assist those specific organizations.  To catalyze motivation among young people and encourage them to start their own projects or to go abroad.
We believe that the skills retrieved during the volunteering, as communication skills, sense of responsibility and the ability of the group work, are priceless in professional life, too. Meanwhile we would like to find new colleagues for our team among the volunteers. They would help us to develop our work and spread the volunteering spirit.
