Workcamps are an amazing opportunity for everyone who wants to meet new people, work for a good cause and travel abroad. We send about 100 - 150 volunteers abroad each summer and organise approximately 4-8 international projects a year in the Czech Republic (some of them run under the Youth Programme).
European Voluntary Service – a long term volunteering in non – governmental organisations in Europe supported by the EU Programme Youth in Action. Opportunity for young people from 18 – 30 years old. We promote sending volunteers to partner organisations, hosting volunteers in the central project Information on Rainbow Youthwork (2005 - CZ – 50) and want to start coordinating a group EVS involvement in the local groups in the project Doduhy (Reach the Rainbow).
New programmes currently being developed in Duha since 2007:
Tamjdem - micro-work camps that take place during weekends trying to bring volunteering closer to young people and to enlarge their knowledge about different Czech NGOs. The volunteers go through a series of few weekends to experience the essence of voluntary work. As they pass from one weekend to another, they will acquire skills and take an ever greater part of the responsibility. Until, at last, they fully organise and run the final weekend.
Rok v pohybu (In-motional Year) - A dream programme of Duha, which would enable Czech youth to do 9 months of part-time voluntary service in a group. Their voluntary engagement is composed of up to consecutive 8 projects: each takes place in a different NGO. We would like to allow young people to discover the non-governmental sector in its full variety and by direct experience. And at the same time, to let them discover their own personal astute and limits through work in a team. We work on making this project possible – trying to communicate with the authorities in order to change the current volunteers’ law as well as developing a strategy to develop involvement of the private enterprise to sponsor the project.
